About Centurion

Stephen J Thompson, president of Centurion Building Contractors, LLC, grew up in the construction business.  He worked summers for his father in construction through high school and college, and in 1974, two years after graduating from the University of Kansas with a BA in History and BS in Education, Steve started his own construction company in Columbus, Indiana.  Over the next ten years, his company built everything from custom homes and a 50-unit apartment complex to a gymnasium and a radio station, with a great many special remodeling projects in downtown Columbus in between.  

In 1984, Steve moved his family – wife Suzanne and their two daughters – and his company here, to Ormond Beach, Florida.  Since then, we’ve been building innovative, top-quality, one-of-a-kind homes, to the delight of our many satisfied customers throughout the area.  

We’re especially proud of our design and construction work on homes requiring extraordinary considerations, like pilings and sea walls on the ocean in Ponce Inlet and Ormond Beach, and on the Intracoastal Waterway in Daytona Beach Shores and Ormond Beach.  We’ve built homes with airplane hangers in Spruce Creek Fly In, and many other unique homes in Breakaway Trails, The Trails, Hunter’s Ridge, and Plantation Bay Country Club.  We’ve even developed complete subdivisions in Spruce Creek Fly-in and Hunter’s Ridge.

We’ve also retained Steve’s love of renovation and restoration.  We’ve done renovations that literally transformed the entire house, including projects in which we constructed a whole new house over the top of an existing house, added second floors to one-story homes, and countless complete room additions.  And we’ve renovated many of the old commercial buildings in downtown Ormond Beach.  

At Centurion Building Contractors, we approach every project as a unique experience and challenge, and we work hard to make it an enjoyable experience for everyone involved in the process.  We focus on quality, and we bring every bit of our experience, knowledge and skills to every project we take on.
